Nuclear medicine

Nuclear medicine is an integral part of the Department of Medical Imaging, and is available at every Chirec's hospital sites.

Nuclear medicine gives the possibility to examine how organs or tissue are functioning, by injecting a radioactive tracer.

This tracer will not cause any allergic reaction and the low level of radioactivity incurs no risk to health.

Facilities available

Every hospital site is equipped with new and cutting-edge equipment, which allows us to perform the full panel of examinations using nuclear medicine, according to the international guidelines specified both for PET scanning and conventional hybrid imaging.

In practice, we have:

• 1 PET CT Scanner (at the Delta Hospital)
• 6 Gamma cameras coupled with a CT scanner
• 6 Gamma cameras without CT scanner
• 5 densitometers

You can always book an appointment during the week and on the same day (in confirmed urgent cases).

In addition, we have always taken pride in efficiently communicating the protocols for the examinations performed, in order to quickly meet the expectations of the prescribing physician.

In December 2016, the nuclear medicine department received ISO 9001:2015 certification for all of the Chirec sites.

This certification is a guarantee of high quality for patients and prescribing physicians, both in the organisation of the service and in how conventional nuclear medicine and PET scaner examinations are performed.
