Artificial insemination (AI)
In practice
This is the simplest MAR technique.
Intrauterine artificial insemination consists of preparing the sperm by centrifugation or migration, and placing a suspension of sperm capacitation inside the uterus.
This technique can be used to treat problems with cervical mucous and in cases of a moderately low sperm count. It is also used to treat unexplained infertility.
It is simple to perform, both for the patient and for the MAR centre. It is inexpensive and provides significant results that will, of course, vary according to age and the associated ovulation management techniques: between 10% and 15%.
Artificial insemination can be performed using the sperm of your partner, or with the sperm of a donor.
