Paediatric hospitalization - Delta Hospital

The paediatric ward is located on the 3rd floor - Wing A

Below you will find the documents you need to give your child all the information they need to make sure their hospital stay goes smoothly.

If they have been prepared, your children will experience their stay with less apprehension, more confidence and peace of mind.

Is your child about to have an operation?

Your child is about to undergo an operation... an adventure for them, but also for you!

Our aim is to make this experience as stress-free as possible for everyone. That's why we're providing fun, educational tools to help your child better understand and prepare for this stage: Playmobil hospital, learning dolls, explanatory films and much more.

We invite you to join your child on one of our pre-operative visits on Wednesday afternoons.

My first operation - Théo & Zoé (FR)

In the event of scheduled hospitalization

  • Make an appointment with the anaesthetist: 02/434.86.41. The consultation takes place on the 1st floor of the hospital, corridor G.

  • Register for an information and games session (in French only) ('Rencontres pré-opératoires').

  • Complete the ‘Tips and tricks from Théo and Zoé’ in the leaflet at the bottom of this page.
  • Check your pharmacy to see if you have enough paracetamol (Dafalgan®, Perdolan®, Dafalgan Instant®) and ibuprofen (Perdophen®, Nurofen®, Spidifen®) in oral form (syrups, tablets, powder). Suppositories act more slowly and randomly. In fact, any operation can cause varying degrees of pain.

If your child shows any signs of ‘illness’, such as a temperature, cough, cold symptoms, vomiting, etc., have him/her examined by his/her paediatrician or contact the surgeon to determine whether the operation should be continued.

Packing the child's suitcase:

If your child is only coming for the day, take something to keep him occupied, a clean cuddly toy, a change of clothes and loose-fitting clothing, slippers and anything else you think will make him feel good.

If, on the other hand, they are due to spend several days with us, take :

  • Pyjamas, light clothes, slippers, underwear, toiletries, clean comforter, favourite games, medicines if they are taking a specific treatment.

  • Don't forget to take along the ‘Tips and tricks from Théo and Zoé’ and the ‘Going into the clouds with the anaesthetist’ sheet, duly completed.

Having a shower:

  • For children under 3: wash with Hibiscrub®.

  • For children over 3: wash with Uniwash® Iso-betadine.

  • Then put on a clean piece of clothing.

  • Remove nail polish and jewellery.

In the morning:

Follow the fasting instructions given by the anaesthetist during the pre-operative consultation.

Shower:

  • For children under 3: wash with Hibiscrub®.

  • For children over 3: wash with Uniwash® Iso-betadine.

  • Then put on a clean piece of clothing.

  • Remove nail polish and jewellery.

Arriving at the hospital:

Go to the admissions department on the ground floor of the hospital at the time given to you by your doctor.

If you do not know the time of admission, please contact us the day before, from 3pm, on 02/434.80.20.

Do not forget your administrative documents (identity card, insurance, your child's pre-operative passport, etc.) as well as your child's national registration number and/or a sticker from your child's mutual insurance company.

You will be given a prescription for the appropriate painkillers.

Please note that your child's pain may manifest itself in different ways:

  • Expressing pain verbally
  • Making faces
  • Screaming
