Emergency medicine is part of the Acute Medicine Division of CHIREC. This service is available at the Delta hospital, Braine-l'Alleud - Waterloo Hospital and St-Anne St-Remi Clinic.
Patients are received and treated 24/7. Depending on the diagnosis they are then referred for treatment, outpatient care or admission to hospital.

The emergency department of the new Delta Hospital is open 24/7, and is located Boulevard du Triomphe, in Auderghem.
Braine-l'Alleud - Waterloo Hospital

St-Anne St Remi Clinic

The emergency entrance is open 24/7, and is located rue Verheyden, 66, in Anderlecht.
The emergency reception is reserved for users of this service.
Wheelchairs are available at each hospital entrance.
Our Emergency Departments welcome all patients 24/7, whether they come on their own, are sent by their GP, or arrive in a private ambulance or in one belonging to the emergency service 100.
Our teams are made up of:
- Doctors specialised in emergency medicine
- Doctors with a Certificate in Acute Medicine, or with the qualification of Specialist in Acute Medicine,
- Emergency care and paediatric nurses
- Administrative assistants
A specialised service in Intensive Care and Gynaecology is provided and is available 24/7.
Concerning other medical-surgical specialties, an on-call service is provided and available.
From the first moment you enter the hospital, you are registered at the reception where you will be asked for your identity card. This registration will automatically generate:
- A medical file: record of your visit and the results of examinations carried out; it will be sent to your GP.
- A nursing file: a summary of every treatment you have received.
After an initial medical examination, supplementary tests might be necessary. Depending on the clinical examination and the results of supplementary tests, you will be directed for more specific treatment to your GP or to a consultation with a specialist, or you will be hospitalised.
The time you will have to wait while arrangements are made for your care and will depend on several factors:
- The degree of severity of the cases and the number of patients present
- The time needed to obtain the results of laboratory tests and x-rays examinations
- The possible need for a specialist opinion
- The establishment of the diagnosis and treatment, the administration of care and the progress of your state of health
- The availability of a bed in the case of hospitalisation.
If required, the emergency doctor will give you a prescription. If you need to go to a specialist, an appointment will be made by our secretariat between 9 am and 5 pm.
Out of the secretariat hours you will be given a telephone number to make an appointment the following day.

If you have to be hospitalised
In this case the emergency doctor will get in touch with the specialist who will treat you during your hospitalisation. The healthcare team will ask you what type of room you would like: single, double or four-bed room.
If your admission is an emergency one, we would like you to ask a member of your family to carry out the formalities involved in the hospitalisation at the admission desk.

- Please only bring one person with you into the department
- We ask patients to pick one or two contact persons to whom we can give brief information about the patients’ state of health.
