MAPA

Ambulatory blood pressure measurement (ABPM) records blood pressure over a 24-hour period using a cuff connected to a portable device.

This test helps to diagnose hypertension and assess the effectiveness of any treatment required.

Ambulatory blood pressure measurement

  • The ‘MAPA’ (ambulatory blood pressure measurement) procedure measures blood pressure over a 24-hour period.

  • A cuff connected to a recording device attached to the belt is fitted.

  • It will take blood pressure readings every 15 to 20 minutes during the day and every 30 to 60 minutes at night.

  • This test is used to investigate or confirm the diagnosis of hypertension. In hypertensive patients undergoing treatment, it can be used to assess the adequacy of drug therapy, enabling it to be adjusted if necessary.

In practice

  • The examination takes place on the 1st floor - wing D (cardiology consultations).
  • You must register in advance at reception desk no. 3, located on the 1st floor.
  • You should allow around ten minutes for the MAPA to be set up in the department.
  • You will then need to return the MAPA at around the same time the following day.
  • The invoice will be sent to you by the hospital.
  • The machine will be placed in the Cardiology Department, on the ground floor of Building B.
  • You must register in advance at the central reception desk on the ground floor of Building A.
  • You should allow around ten minutes for the MAPA to be set up in the department.
  • You will then need to return the MAPA at around the same time the following day.
