Our work is divided into two distinct areas
The presence of an ombudsman is a legal obligation in Belgian hospitals. The mediation service is responsible for dealing with requests relating to patients' rights under the Law of 22.08.2002 and its implementing decrees:
- quality of care,
- informed consent,
- consultation and copies of medical records,
- financial impact
- ...
The aim of the service is to provide a forum for dialogue between the patient and the healthcare provider in the event of a dispute, and to encourage the parties to work together to find an amicable solution.
This service deals with requests that do not relate to patients' rights as set out in the Law of 22.08.2002.
The Patient Relations Department listens to patients, provides information on the various aspects of hospital operations (legal, practical, financial, etc.), advises and tries, within the limits of its competence, to provide an answer or solution.
Requests can be made:
- Via the online contact form, available here.
- By e-mail: an acknowledgement of receipt will be sent and the requestor will be contacted as soon as possible.
- By telephone, with the option of leaving a message which will be followed up within a maximum of 3 working days.
